I was reading about National Income which is nothing but the sum total of value added in all the enterprises of a country. By 'value added' i mean the money value all the final goods and services produced in a country during a period of one year.

Following factors are not included in calculating National Income:

1.Leisure activities such as hobbies
2.Illegal income or gift taxes
3.Sale of second machines
4.Transfer payments on unproductive activities
and last but not the least.. Self Consumption services such as "HOUSEWIVES".
Well,instead of memorising all of them,only last one would do.
Because.....

'They' are the one who do all the Leisure activities in a household (I am sorry for most{almost all} of the married males).
'They' are the one whose huge demands of gifts(unable to be met by regular salaries) persuade us to go for 'Illegal Income'.
'They' are the one who keeps on updating machines and other accessaries just to be on or above the par of their counterparts in KITTY.

'They' are the one who transfer huge payments on umpteen activities which are anything but'Productive'.

So, now i understand why were we insulated from recession...Because come-what-may-happen(Recession, depression,great depression or low depression), the household(not to mention what do i mean by household..hehe) 'DEMAND'of the huge indian middleclass will remain booming,with upward bias.

Now i understand the irony of "India- 2nd fastest growing economy with 8% growth" but yet nowhere near Japan, South Africa or Brazil(congrats Rio de janerio!!) as the National Income figures are inflated coz they have segregated the important 'factor'of expenditure.

Now i understand the anomaly between the PPP of India and pecuniary condition of most of the people (including the big chunk of middle class as well).

Back to square one, this kept me mulling over "Why the hell they do like this?"..
