But with awareness amongst women and due to their economic independence they are no longer dependent on their spouse, rather they go out to face the world and provide equal support in economic matters along with their caring support at home. Women have taken up the dual role successfully, but for the marriages to be successful men also have to pursue the dual role and responsibility.
Most important feature which the marriage performs along with its emotional and economic support is the upbringing of the children. It acts as a guardian and guide during the socialization of the child. The child gets parents who are committed to the cause and responsibility of his care. Live-in relationships however strong cannot provide the same degree of commitment in matters of child socialization, moreover when live-in relationships face the responsibility of upbringing a child then the informal setup created for convenience sake begins to tremble.

Any institution in a long term is vulnerable to many problems and live-in relations are no exception to that.
