Mayawati – Inspiration, Tax payers closet & the flaw in Indian Democracy

Mayawati who had inspired (mostly dalits), raised the eyebrows of lot people (Upper part of the caste ladder) and turned the heads of the remaining when she battled her way to reign supreme by some clever biasing of the dalit and the Brahmin votes. Lets not deny it, it was one hell of an achievement. Anybody who would like to take inspiration from the so far mentioned story of mayawati, take it and draw the line right here.

Uttar Pradesh, largest state in India, second largest economy of India(no surprise for a state with population of 190 million ) , One of the few states to have a literacy rate less than the national average, literacy rate of women is right down the barrel, wide spread poverty  and it has its share of IIT and other premier institute. Looking at the above statistics, one need study rocket science to answer the question on “where the tax payers money should be spent?”. If we were to ask the question “What would you with One billion dollars?” to different countries, Haiti would answer “ I want rescue  the people from the rubbles of the quake”. Somalia would want to give food to its citizens, I don’t want to go into what Pakistan would say lol.:-) Ms Mayawati would invest One billion dollars in raising statues of herself and her mentors all across the state and further few million dollars in maintaining it and for the icing on the cake the government has set up a security team to safe guard the statues.

Why we are helpless towards these actions which lack even a little bit of sense? We can all point our ten fingers to ourselves; Ms Mayawati just made use of the huge gaping hole of our democratic system to rule the cultural hub of India. Our lack of interest in voting, voter’s easy attraction towards vote bank politics and later after election, our in ability to raise our voice, this sums up to why our country had very opportunities to see good leaders.
