The faceless anonymity offered by the Internet is emboldening people to strike friendships without hesitation, reserve or careful consideration.  Of course, it is a great feeling to come across people with the same wavelength, people with admirable qualities, people who attract irresistibly. Unlike in real life, in Internet people hasten to grow effusive, using epithets & expressions resembling teenage crush/ adolescent infatuation. Amusing. Titillating. Flattering. A bit unsettling. A little irritating.  Embarrassing. Scary too!

Not everybody is old enough or wise enough to weigh the pros & cons, to contemplate on the propriety of such approaches. Are they harmless? Are they aiming at cheap entertainment? It is hard to find out. The legitimacy is very much in doubt. No way to gauge the genuineness. For many nothing is at stake. But for people in the impressionable age, tender & inexperienced, an easy trap leading to what dangers we know not.

Our world is in a state of flux, shedding off  taboos, inhibitions & restraints. Bold inventions are bombarding our forts of privacy, delicacy & reserve- rewriting etiquette rules & social norms. Easy access, entertaining aspect, enticing content make Internet addicting. No way escaping/contesting the truth. How do we manage the effects of the magic spell? Do we benefit by improving our personal morale? Do we build a fuller personality? Do we make life more meaningful? Do we bring more worries upon ourselves, get entangled in unwanted relationships? Will it suffice just to be trendy, savvy or seek real pleasures of the soul & mind to live our lives in happy acceptance & enjoy a purposeful existence as dignified human beings?

The trends of the world are not altogether healthy. More discrimination, elimination, restraint & discretion will be more in order.
