The proposed ban on stilettos in workplaces really make sense!
This triggered a question " who makes a better employee..women or men?"
How many Lady entrepreneurs we have? Does the ratio of women population balance with the entrepreneurial one?

I agree with your analysis with regards to contemporary women. Women are still victims of circumstances. With the passage of time the thought process changes. When there is a level playing field skills will cease to be gender specific.

From a personal experience i can say when their careers start of things are on an even keel, however with women things start to taper of a bit(on the job front) when they marry, the onus of attending to dometic chores falls on them & its becomes imperative for them to make sacrifices on the professional front so as to attend to their personal front..my mom & dad both started as lecturers , however my mom(though academically better than my dad
) had to opt out of her job. Umbrella am not entirely convinced with your 'men being innovative and women being not(intrinsically i.e.) theory' of urs..however many a men would love to bits the adjectives u have used & you can safely include me in that bracket

A very interesting analysis umbrella and I agree with all your points. But one thing i can say, this unprofessionalism is more in case of married women.
Very good composition... keep it up !

Interesting analysis...Kudos..though i personally feel it would be difficult to generalize so many things about both men and women....would add few points to put another perspective to this new debate:
1) As per Indian thinking is concerned regarding women it is changing now and result would be visible in another decade or so, i am sure we will have more CEO's and entrepreneurs. 2) At my work place i have observed that women too are innovative in the same as men..in fact better many times Still there are problems where there is no level playing field for both but that is limited to only few areas, today we have more women civil servants, politicians, doctors, engineers.

Well said Umbrella.
Yes, we may be hearing that women are coming of age and other points but facts prove all. Women are laggards when it comes to innovation (esp in problem solving) and adjust with rapidly changing environments and its a hard truth (we are not concerned here about some exceptions). Also this discussion is not about the number of women in high posts or something. You can see the number of noble laureates, scientists. Woman hardly gets represented there. But woman do have creativity in some fields like fashion designing, drawing, painting & art work etc but the sad part is our society haven't utilized their talents fully.

Just want to add few figures..this year itself 5 women got nobel prize for their work in economics,Literature,Chemistry and Physiology.I agree in numbers they might be less but picture would be different in another decade or so...so innovation is here..
Further my contention is that people in today's competitive world have to be talented and innovative to reach at the top whatever the field may be....politics,business or any service...if in politics numbers of women is high means there is something in them. Plus still in third world countries women do not have opportunities which consist of more than three-fourth of the world's population..so it would be incorrect to judge them...if provided they can be equally innovative.

Sorry for being late ... but this one was interesting! a woman employee may be tricky, but the woman boss seems better. At least I enjoyed a wonderful professional rhythm with my last boss who was a woman. Now, having said that, I can't really comment on stilettos or platforms since I don't see a need for them (male reasoning).
But then, just wait for a few more years before the sugar coat to praise a feminine effort will fade out. And a realistic and truthful criticism about women professionals will emerge. That will be interesting to see. Write comment
