"Murga Bano"..

"No sir, please" ..

"Maine kaha, murga bano"..

"Sir, please..agli baar home work pakka karunga"..

Whhhippp.. "Aaahhh...sssss" cried yours truly. In a chilly winter evening of North India, the thought of getting canned on your 'Dunlops' is horrifying if not ghostly.

Whhipp.."uuuuiiii...sssss". An another one, just to bring the other part in equilibrium. My both the assets were having same temperature (well above the room temperature), Heat, pain and after some time neurons stop giving impulses to brain from that part.

"Dude you can't take it more", I thought and surrendered. In the next moment, yours truly was turned into a "murga".

I cursed the inventor of this posture. A unique 'Mudra' in which you are challanged to hold your ears with hands coming through the gap of the two legs. You end up bended below 90 degree and yes your assets feeling proud to be well above the level of your head. After 5 mins your thighs starts paining like anything and in order to relax them you have to dethrone ur assets, lowering them down."Upar karo", ordered the hitler, my tution teacher.

"Be$#%d,M%@##%d", cursing i obeyed.

I used to take 1hr tution class in my 5th standard which mostly did go in the same fashion. Sometimes the severity increases as hitler used to keep a stool on my back. Daily i used to promise myself, "kal pura kaam khatam karunga..and dikha dunga ki me bhi kuch hun".

This particular heroism used to last in 15 mins; call for cricket.
Next day, Back to square one.

This was not the case in tution only. I studied in a convent school. Our principle passed a 'law' that everyone should speak in English during school hrs. Born on 13th April (date of Jaliyan wala bagh masacre) patrotism was deeply rooted in me at that age also.Bolstered by Article 19 and my ability of not speaking english properly (which i suppose was the main reason) i was often caught speaking in hindi.

Punishment was very funny!! One had to put a tail, which used be a long strip of paper used in decorating ceilings on B'days, and take a couple of round of school premises during assembly hrs.All were asked to shout "shame...shame". Kids from kindergarten or 1st-2nd std used to love it. However,me and my comrades, who believed in my ideology, were the regulars. So we were THE CULT, smiling and entertaining all!!

After schools or tutions my parents used to ask me, "aaj kya hua?",  i used to tell them everything because thats how i was brought up thats the way they have encouraged me by giving their time, care, love and enjoying everything. From the "Murga" process till 'Tail'. They laughed with me when i narrated whole stuff and lecturing me in the end about right and wrong. There was no pressure of being into 90s as they knew i was the dumb ass. So passing a class was an achievement and it
was celebrated with gulab jamun and chicken (which gave me strength to be one of them).

I still remember i was canned very badly in my 7th std by my English teacher, Baby Methew. I cried alot in class. I felt really bad that day but came out of it soon. Funny jokes, mischiefs of friends and a single sight of 'HER' were the opium. At home, as usual, i puked whole story in-front of my family members.

"He is a nice teacher..never beats usually.", said my elder Bro "hope your english will improve..hehe"

Next day Baby Mathew sir came and said, "Sorry for yesterday." checking my answer copy still all red with mistakes. Later your truly would pass ICSE exam with 88 marks in English, though not superman stuff but still good.

"Corporal punishment reported from Kolkata school- CNN IBN..A boy killed".

True nostalgia is an ephemeral composition of disjointed memories. Yet it prompted me to do the comparative analysis. Rouvanjit case, still fresh in memories and here comes an another one from Kolkata. I read somewhere that Bengalis are quite orthodox..kidding :), no offence. But why is it happening?

Is the younger generation not emotionally strong?

Aint we giving enough time to them to share their feelings?

Is it academic pressure?

Aint the teachers have a sense of introspection to accept their mistakes if any? or aint they changing themselves with time?

Its beastly to imagine that students,so young, are suffering from such a mental trauma that they a committing suicide!!

In Kolkata (again) A boy killed his friend - Why this violent instinct is developing?.......

I think in this aspect we are going close to american society, so some respite....
Thanks Michael Moore for "Bowling for Columbine".....
