Movie - 3 Idiots Director - Rajkumar Hirani Starcast - Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, Madhavan, Boman Irani, Kareena Kapoor and Others. The perfectionist Aamir Khan returns with a master stroke in Raj Kumar Hirani’s, 3 Idiots. Loosely based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Points Someone, 3 Idiots is immensely hilarious and simultaneously an emotionally engaging experience which has its heart at the right place. It takes back to gates where we first gave a kick start to an ambitious engineering career with dreams to achieve the road to success. Days when we understood the magic of friendship, days when we got crushed for the girl next door, days when we captured our laughter with countless pranks, days when we spend sleepless nights with the pressures of semesters and of course days when we encountered shrewd and mean college directors. 3 Idiots is a journey back to time loaded with precious smiles and tears... Two friends Hari (Sharman Joshi) and Farhan (Madhavan) begin a quest in search of their long before lost buddy, Rancho (Aamir Khan). Along the journey they keep walking down the memory lane about their best friend, the intelligent explorer, Rancho who in his unique way, touched and changed their lives. There are flashbacks of college life with Rancho’s romancing Pia (Kareena Kapoor) and his clash with the oppressive director, Viru Sahastrabudhhe (Boman Irani). But one fine day Rancho vanishes and so after years of separation Hari and Farhan decide to start their search for the lost friend who once influenced and inspired them to think creatively and independently. Undoubtedly Aamir Khan shines all through; he turns out to be the soul of 3 idiots. The moment he shows himself in the intro as a fresher scorches the screen there on with powerhouse performance. Though he looks a bit old for his character but he makes it up with striking comic timing and heart warming innocence. From scratching his head to being thrashed by the director, he captures the much needed sincerity in the teenage explorer, Rancho. Apart from being a desperate Aamir Khan fan every single time I decide to watch his movies I go out with zero expectations, mostly with a perception of it being a disaster. But it is after watching I always come to the conclusion of how mind blowing of an experience it really was. Sharman Joshi gives his finest performance till date. He fits in perfectly with the character and delivers a gem of a performance. So is case with the talented Madhavan, his narration gives an effective punch to the story as it moves along. Omi Vaidya as Chatur is the master comic element and is the search of the show, his accent and presence gives you stomach aches with laughter; watch out for the speech he delivers at the college function. Boman Irani as usual gives his best and is like a mirror image of arrogant deans and directors of reputed engineering colleges. Kareena Kapoor has no scope; she comes and goes in fractions. But the credit goes to Rajkumar Hirani who comes back with 3 Idiots after the brilliant Munnabhai series.
Aal Izz Well, Give me some sun shine and Behti hawa are the classic threes. Apparently it is after watching the movie you understand the meat and freshness of the situational tracks. They touch the striking chords with heartfelt sync. The story turns a bit melodramatic at final half hour as Mona Chopra comes into picture, but the rare clinches can be passed by as the remaining thrills you with twists and turns in the tale. 3 Idiots is hilarious, gripping and touching. On its record breaking spree, it will stay in you for years to come. A treat for engineers and a lesson for college management, witness the idiots transforming the current day education system to excellence. Aal izz definitely well with the army of idiots. Rating - 8/10

People who always expect the unexpected should watch movies once in a blue moon.

What to expect when you have one of the top actors of Bollywood ("The perfectionist" as to quote you) and a good director? And that's what I said, "A Mere Time pass flick (don't expect the unexpected)". Its kinda funny when people say that they don't expect anything better than average.
The actor who still loves his college boy roles when he is running around 50. The director still loves to hear "All is Well". written by Barun Dash, January 05, 2010
Absolutely one that fits him, that's the reason he is named the perfectionist. I guess you can ask genuine movie goers response as well as record breaking collections of 3 Idiots, its because of multiple views or second time watch. That is enough for everyone to understand how big the scale of 3 Idiots is... My suggestion stop watching movies or start making movies to undergo your level of satisfaction instead of continuously thrashing every single one. Apparently just count how many movies have you even watched this year.

Well the discussion is about the movie 3 idiots and the artists responsible for the product. So, I wont divert from the topic discussing my personal topics.
Yes they are answerable because they are at the center stage and we spend money on them. Due to the fetish of the actors to play teen age roles when they are running around 50 years, Bollywood is the laughing stock all over the world. Its no wonder their fans still revere them as demigods. Can anybody share the reason why these stars still love to play teen age characters? Ain't there good scripts for a 50 year old character? Or they hate aging or is it the underlying fear? Its high time they should stop fooling themselves because the audiences are foolish anyways. Enough is Enough. We are talking abt appreciative cinema and that's the basis audiences will remember a product some years down the line. Its different science all together to analyze the BO collections or earnings. Most of the time BO collections are used by the interested parties to blind the average cine goers. The primary reason we shouldn't give importance to BO collection is with changing times new movies/stars will pour which will break previous records. Audience behavior, mediums, ways to earn and marketing ways are changing rapidly and it will change more so in future. Most of these factors are responsible for BO collection rather than the quality of the product. (I have still inflation factor to consider) Next year you may sing a song for the record breaking BO collection for the movie "My name is Khan". I can also argue that BO collections for Himesh Reshammiya's movies are good (considering him as a new kid on the block), does it makes HR movie's good? Time can never alter the quality of a cinema. Did we ever appreciated movies like Sholay for BO collections? Here I rest my case. written by Barun Dash, January 06, 2010
Then keep ur fingers crossed to achieve the 100% expertise level of cinema. May be in future we wish to see what sort of masterpiece outcome you come out with say around 10-20 or possibly many more years to add to as you direct or become the next generation cinematic genius...

@Admin-

The script is a combination of the novel "Five Point Someone" to some incidents of forwarded chain mails to sardar jokes to some bollywood mix masala. There are countless funnier ragging incidents which could have been explored rather than presenting their ass and chanting "Tofa Kubool Ho".
Aamir khan is a total misfit for the role. The twitching of his facial muscles, his expressions, his smile doesn't do good for the character. He tries hard and does a good job but his efforts only compliments the chocolate boy look to the character rather than realistic appeal.
The music is below average. Again another weak point are the loose supporting characters which was never the case in previous movies of Raj Kumar Hirani.
Hirani always had a point in the form of Jadoo ki Jhappi (Munna Bhai MBBS) or Get well soon (Lage Raho Munna bhai) and this time he comes with "ALL IS WELL" which is plain stupid.
The audience will soon get bored if Hirani churns more of this genre. He needs to explore a new genre soon before "ALL IS WELL".
No charm and sweetness of Munna bhai MBBS. A mere time pass flick.
