Starcast - Frank Langella , Michael Sheen , Sam Rockwell , Kevin Bacon , Oliver Platt and Others.

Awards - Nominated for 5 Oscars. Another 8 wins and 34 nominations & more

Blast from the past, 2008’s best of the best comes out from the genius, the Academy Award Winner director Ron Howard in the name Frost/Nixon. Frank Langella and Michael Sheen's powerhouse, hard-hitting performances turns Frost/Nixon into a movie that comes as the charismatic decade’s best entertainment. A solid nail biter that keeps you at the edge of your seat, jam packed with intensifying moments and scintillating dialogues. Frank Langella’s mercurial and Godly portrayal of Richard Nixon leaves you dumb struck at the end of the day. Consider it for something much more massive than Oscars for Frank Langella as Best Actor and Ron Howard for Best Picture…

The story begins with the resignation of US President Richard Nixon ( Frank Langella ) because of the Watergate scandal. Television talk show host, David Frost ( Michael Sheen ) desperately wants to arrange a series of interviews with him to air on television as per his thinking that the interviews would be massive for both the public and the television networks as Nixon did not admit the guilt nor did he offer any sort of apology which led to his resignation. Nixon, with a few interview offers on the table, agrees to Frost's proposal under certain financial constraints and simultaneously to resurrect his political career. Nixon believes that he can derail Frost, who is better known as a play boyish pop cultural entertainment interviewer rather than a sensitive political interviewer. In addition to his producer John Birt, Frost hires two reputed cracked investigative reporters Bob Zelnick ( Oliver Platt ) and James Reston, Jr ( Sam Rockwell ). As the four interviews progress, both of them try to manipulate the interviews to gain their respective accomplishments.

Meanwhile, Frost faces difficulty in his professional life, his regular talk shows are being cancelled and adding to it is the financial problems for handling this massive project which ultimately comes out from his own pocket. But one telephone call before the final interview session turns the tides on his favor and finally he dismantles Nixon from his throne of reigning arrogance.

Frank Langella is for Frost/Nixon just as Marlon Brando was for The Godfather and Jack Nicholson for A Few Good Men. A legendary performance by an actor that stays in memory for centuries, the arrogance, the elegance and the guilt that Frank brings in the character Richard Nixon is immensely powerful and leaves a massive impact. The burning and desperate attitude to win that he displays every time he comes on screen turns the movie into one of the most remarkable experiences that will be remembered for ages to come. Ron Howard successfully extracts a memorable performance from Frank Langella. The telephonic conversation between Frank and Michael in the hotel is where your mouth remains wide opened for Frank’s bombing and dictatorial dialogue delivery.

One man who can be called as the show stopper, the man with a quirky smile and an impulsive ascent to carry countless extents of admiration is Michael Sheen. The moment he introduces himself a vibe of compulsion and sensitivity erupts. Michael’s moving and power pack display as the British talk-show host, David Frost gives a simultaneous boost to Frank’s character of Richard Nixon. Both Michael and Frank go hand and in hand until at the end they indulge themselves into a legendary battle which can be termed as “War of the Words”. The way Frost tears down Nixon’s arrogance into pieces and compels him to admit his wrongdoings at the final interview session is an unforgettable and enthralling moment to experience.  Kevin Bacon and Sam Rockwell give short but superb performances.

Ron Howard comes back after a long time with his last directorial venture being 2006’s controversial The Da Vinci Code. But this time the brilliant director nails a memorable epic to absolute brilliance. The wounds of Richard Nixon’s Watergate Conspiracy are ignited to extremes in the dramatic Frost/Nixon created by the visionary legend, Ron Howard. Peter Morgan’s screenplay works big time in favor of this movie, which is flawless and impeccable. Adding to it is the original score by the marvelous music composer Hans Zimmer which flows with a perfect sync.

Frost/Nixon is moving, gripping and a gem of an entertaining product crafted by a director who gave the classic, Cinderella Man, one which deserves something much more than Oscars, a real gift to historic cinema.  Watch it for Frank Langella; watch it for Michael Sheen, hats off to the actor, Frank Langella for gifting the portrayal of a lifetime.

“I'm saying that when the President does it that means it’s not illegal”, take that to get the punch such destructive and commanding in gigantic scales by Frank Langella.

Rating – 8.5/10

Yes It deserves what its given. I guess it doesn't stand with your masterpiece standards like a Tarentino's baseless flick named Pulp Fiction or may be Frost doesn't go on bashing Nixon with words like mo********er like Samuel Jackson in your so called masterpiece, these might have been the reasons for you not to give what it deserves. Frost/Nixon is a great movie and it rightfully deserves 8.5 from every aspect.

My concern is that this movie is nowhere in the list of great movies even if you see All the presidents men which is based on the same issue but is excellent. Everyone will agree with me on this point that pulp fiction is always on the top list of all time great movies. As far as matter of personal choice is concerned, I would not comment.

So when this movie never stood tall in any damn list or in anyone's favorite list too and its generously awarded 8.5 then I m trying to guess what should be the rating of the movie which is in the top of the list and like-able to everyone. I mean there are loads of movies like that and I am sure that the rating will blast the maximum mark of 10.

Ya if the points are considered from 15 points basis, then 7.5 for frost/nixon will be perfect.

I guess nobody from your side might have seen it, even I don't suggestions from those who watch stereotypical actions flicks or movies once in a lifetime. Wow Pulp Fiction greatest movie... it doesn't even deserve what worth it is Tarentino's hype must have turned something good for it apart from that its nothing less than a genuine boredom. No matter what Frost/Nixon is the perfect SOULFUL winner.

@ Barun,nnWhy do every movie needs to be compared with Pulp fiction or Vice-Versa? I mean its logical to compare two movies of the same genre or its also perfect to compare a movie against the best of all time but nevertheless a gangster movie with a movie where investigative journalism is the core. Its just like comparing apples and oranges or can I take this comparison an inference to the all time popularity of Pulp Fiction and one of the best?nnDid I hear the word "Soulful Winner" for the movie Frost/Nixon? I am sure to laugh out loud for this one.

Definitely I said out loud that Frost/Nixon is a soulful winner because it is. It has the content in it which makes it special, at least not using repetitive dialogues or ideas again and again to prove the director's style of movie making

Why u guys comparing Frost/Nixon with Pulp?

Be unbiased. Any way my view is Frost/Nixon is a good movie. Rating what Barun gave may be his personal view but my own view is it should not get lower rating than 7.5/10 (not 7.5/15). "Soulful winner" :for me it was not but refreshing movie nevertheless.
