Abortion - what is it for?

Expecting everyone to be aware of the term abortion, I'd like to share my opinions and knowledge about this.

There is something called a "therapeutic treatment", which means the treatment which is beneficial for the patient. Though it may carry adverse effects known as 'side effects' with it, but if the therapeutic effects are dominant then this treatment is always preferred. To my utter surprise, I came to know that abortion was a kind of therapeutic treatment.

Abortion was in fact used by doctors to handle special cases. As in cases, where the patient is not physically fit to carry another life within her, unfortunate cases where a medically unfit patient becomes pregnant, so the doctors chose a treatment like abortion to save at least one of the lives.

Another scenario where abortion was taken up as treatment was, when unexpectedly pregnancy was gained shortly after a delivery. For our information, a minimum gap of 3 years should be maintained between two children. If this gap of time is reduced then there might be negative effects on the mother's health to avoid which, abortion was a solution.

But as selfish human beings, we started using a therapeutic treatment as a solution for our own carelessness. Gradually women started getting the child aborted when they were sheer careless to plan according to their so-called career. Women who didn't want kids at an early stage of their career or women who thought getting a child will be an obstacle in their way to success, everyone started using abortion as a solution for their selfish reasons.

And in the 21^st century abortion has tuned to be one of the most shameful acts. Two of the reasons which is according to me is absolutely inhuman and we should be ashamed of doing it. The first being, killing female fetus. With the help of technology, finding out the gender of the fetus and destroying it in case its female, is the new face of abortion in today's world. I will disagree to the fact that only uneducated couple adopt this option. Due to many reasons, many couples now take it up as a solution to satisfy i don't know which greed of theirs. And the other reason i want to point out is, unmarried young girls being careless or immature or whatever when become pregnant take up abortion as the whole and sole solution for their life. I have one small figure to be shared with my readers. An average of 10,000 abortion cases are recorded immediately after navratri in mumbai alone. This my dear readers is the figure till the year 2006 (I am sorry I can't not able to give you present day figures).

So how was the journey so far? We human beings according to me misuse hell lot of things, but can we do the same with another life as well? Do we have such rights? Why not be more responsible, civilized, cultured and most importantly, more human? Everything that was invented I feel had a purpose with it, let us not deviate from it till the extent we can turn it from good to evil. The best line that would go as suggestion from my side to people who take up abortion as their solutions is “Think before you act”.
