Not necessarily. Christian missionaries have done valuable service in the field of education lifting the population to high profiles! Personal benefits make me thankful.

When u say 'development' it includes Religions too! Development either dilutes the rigid rules of the religion or find easier ways to follow such rules. Religions also get evolved thru times. After all, all religions are man made and if changes or any development is seen as a threat, the problem lies within that religion and NOT with the development!

It is the fanatics- in any religion- who weild religion as a weapon to fortify their autocratic 'empire'! Benevolent religious leaders are known to encourage changes according to advancing times!
