Lets chose the pros and cons of both.

Quantity - Its the king if we see everything from a purely business perspective.

Packaging - Packaging is the important to break this clutter.

Quality - It differentiates from others, set trends, commands respect, I also view quality as the leading driver for innovator.

But in this hostile business environment, ability to survive and do business is most important, so how one needs to overcome this challenge by sticking to quality.

To quote a simple example:

The Hindu is the most contentful newspaper and powerful editorials yet TOI (Times of India) leads in readership count and reach.

Same trends can be observed among news channels, gossip sites, music and movies.

There is another quirky way of seeing this 'quality' . I think 'quality' is an umbrella term for supply and demand. Juz cz Hindu is contentful..that doesnt mean TOI is lesser in quality. TOI caters to the need of many..that's how it should be seen. Only when the supply fails to meet the demand, it should be considered as of lesser quality..a failure. Considering human minds and it's varied, quirky, weird demands , there is no such thing as 'quality'..isnt it? whatever fits...whatever fills..all depends..right?

Quality is not a virtue. Technically it is meeting your maximum requirements at a certain price or best value for money. There is no absolute quality 'coz you can always do things better. Hence when all the other parameters can be fixed quality is always flexible.

It is not rare to see quality not getting the top position and the unanimous acknowledgement. It needs a certain discernment in both both the provider and the user. Quality makes no compromises on self-imposed standards of excellence. Making the maximum profit is not the priority with quality followers. To be able to stand out as classy, remarkably brilliant is the goal and there is immense satisfaction in accomplishing it.

Dont anybody think that quality needs to be thrusted to the public (Thrusted means bought to everybody's attention).

Else everybody is contended with whatever we have.

Once we get habituated to more refined quality, it becomes a trend and part of our life.

Quality needs constant effort, sincere belief and dogged persistence which the majority of common people lack. Hence the prevalence of 'janatha'(=ordinary)characteristic everywhere.
