The oddness, eccentric behavior of Florentino Ariza (In the novel, Love in the time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez)can be termed as pervert?

well...calling him a 'pervert' maybe wrong. What Florentino had for this woman was an obsessive kind of love. Too much obsession can lead a human mind to extremism.

@ Umbrella,

Yes I agree that obsessive love cant be termed as pervert but what we needs to be considered are his countless liaisons.

His love for Fermina was selfless and audacious but again i have always suspected about its purity.

If we talk about his character it was in total contrast to the other characters of the novel where they are straight forward and social.

Here are some of my observations.

Writing mountains of love letters and poems.
Drinking flasks of coffees at one go.
Behaving like a nocturnal animal.

But personally i liked the character very much and was one of my favorite.
