Water is scarce and the demand is ever increasing. The demand will be more with the number of factories and industries proposed.

The challenge lies to deliver drinkable water to every person which hasn't been achieved till now.

This can be solved if private sector is given entry and water is treated as a commodity rather than free.

Already we pay water tax, don't we?

There are proposals to privatize water supply in some areas in pilot basis and to replicate the same if its successful.

The private bodies are going to charge some minimal amount per kilolitres of water consumed.

It is assumed that the accountability will increase thereby the quality of the drinking water will be better as per the prescribed norms.

Now, people either spend money on further processing of water delivered or spend money on the treatment of water borne diseases by drinking unsafe water.

On one hand we have choice to access drinking water at minimal price

OR

Avail pipe water at no cost which are unfit for drinking without further processing.

But then again questions exist about the accountability of the private bodies and how they are going to contribute in the improvement of the quality and make it fit for drinking standards.

More over the private bodies are in confusion because of the profitability of such venture in long term.
